Background
I am fascinated by how the natural world is connected, and have become increasingly aware of the importance of conservation in the Anthropocene during my MBiol at Oxford. I’m now interested in how tools like machine learning can drive conservation impact, which I explore through bat bioacoustics. I love finding ways to communicate science to people beyond the lab, especially through visual media, which I try to use while running the Oxford University Arts Society alongside my studies. I also care about student access and outreach, which I support through my college and the Department of Biology!
Current Research Interests

My project investigates how habitat fragmentation and land-use change shape bat communities, using passive acoustic monitoring and machine learning to identify echolocation calls at scale. I’m particularly interested in how species’ functional traits determine which bats persist in modified landscapes, how this differs between the forest canopy and understory, and what this means for conservation management.
