Background

I’m fascinated by how ecosystems function and recover, an interest that has only grown over my first three years at Oxford. I love getting out into the field, most recently surveying pollinator recovery across British wildflower meadows. Birds have long been a particular passion, and I enjoy capturing them and other wildlife through photography whenever I get the chance.

Current Research

My master’s research in ICCS now looks at how to protect the deep seabed before and during industrial mining. I’m developing a pre-mining test that puts the burden of proof on contractors to show an area has been adequately sampled and that its species are also protected elsewhere, alongside exploring how market-based mechanisms could help safeguard deep-sea biodiversity.
