Exploring rivers, lakes and oceans has been my favourite pastime for as long as I can remember. Outings and travels throughout my childhood have mostly revolved around fly fishing, and so I have spent countless hours standing on the banks of rivers and lakes, learning the biological cues relevant to the feeding behaviours of salmonids. With time, I grew an appreciation for the complexity of the ecosystems I was spending so much time amongst, which ultimately led to me pursuing a degree in Biology.
I have enjoyed my time spent studying biology at Oxford so far very much. The experience has helped me to better comprehend the wonder and value of biodiversity on our planet, and has confirmed my desire to devote my academic work towards conservation biology. My master’s work will incorporate my interests in salmonid biology, aquatic conservation, and sustainable food production, as I will be studying the environmental performance of European salmon farming systems.
