Women in STEM networking event
The Women in STEM networking event will be run virtually this year. It is a chance to meet Oxford's Women in Science, Engineering and Maths societies, speak with inspiring women and find out more about the many University support networks available.
This event was so well received last time that although we can’t meet face to face we were keen to provide a platform that allowed as many Women in STEM to meet, network, learn and be inspired by their peers.
We are pleased to announce that new for this year’s event we will have a networking workshop from Nessa Carey PhD, Royal Society Entrepreneur-in-Residence at University of Oxford. This will be followed by networking – including speed networking and networking groups – to practise the new skills you’ve learnt.
Also on our virtual platform not only will you be able to listen to informative Soapbox style talks that will raise your awareness and understanding of the rich ecosystem of opportunities for women in STEM at Oxford, you can also talk to the speakers directly at their Soapbox virtual stands.
If you are interested to hear more about the societies and a selection of industry we will have virtual stands where you can meet representatives and have a direct chat, learn more about them and register for more information.
REGISTRATION WILL OPEN SOON - FOR NOW PLEASE SAVE THE DATE:
Monday 1st February, from 18.00 - 20.30
CALL FOR SPEAKERS 2020!
Last year we had fantastic contributions from across the full range of STEM departments.
We are again looking for inspiring women to speak to our attendees about their applied science/research/programmes, and the impact they have on our daily lives. Talks will follow a 'Soapbox' style format with each speaker engaging with visitors for short periods of time, using nothing but props and engaging information (no PowerPoints!). This year we will be sticking to the same principles, despite having to present online!
Apply here to be a speaker at this year's event!
If you have any queries about speaking, please email Carlyn Samuel [she/her] at the Department of Zoology, who is coordinating this aspect.
EVENT IS RUN ON BEHALF OF:

- Women in Zoology
